   INTENTIONS OF THE BOARD:

Kootenai County is committed to the control of noxious weeds, which are plant species not native to the area, and which have a potential to cause injury to public welfare, including, but not limited to, health, crops, livestock, land or other property along with degrading native flora and fauna habitats. As of 2007, 57 plant species have been designated as noxious weeds by Idaho law; several of which exist in Kootenai County. Noxious weeds cost Idaho landowners millions of dollars a year in crop losses and land degradation. It is the responsibility of each property owner to ensure that noxious weeds are controlled on their land. Kootenai County, along with participating agencies, utilizes integrated pest management (IPM) practices to control and contain noxious weeds on public property and rights of ways. The noxious weed control advisory board, in conjunction with the county commissioners and the county noxious weed control office, coordinate noxious weed management.
